Verizon said Tuesday it is close to completing franchise agreements with 19 southwestern Pennsylvania communities to begin offering its fiber-optic-powered FiOS TV service.

The agreements, which are being negotiated with the North Hills Council of Governments and four South Hills municipalities, would cover more than 100,000 households, according to a news release from the company.
