Officials discuss EIT collection system

The way Pennsylvanians pay their earned income taxes is going to change.   Act 32, which was signed into law on July 2, 2008, calls for a restructuring of the earned income tax collection process by creating county-wide tax collection districts, or TCDs.

When the new system in implemented on Jan. 1, 2012, Allegheny County will have four districts, each represented by a separate tax officer.  The North Hills Council of Governments, a coalition of 20 municipalities in both Allegheny and Butler counties, is weighing the options.
